MS-DOS Boot Disk Contents

This website is fantastic. The Boot Disks I have tried all work fantastically, especially when I am using older software.

pour essayer.

Just wondering if you have tried this.. i cant get it to work but i am not to great with computers. Vista has become a nightmare to uninstall and i still havent figured out how. I tried downloading multiple boot disks so i dont log into windows and hoped to get to a dos prompt so i could format the drive with vista on it. I get no where.. any ideas how to get vista off my computer or how to even get to a dos prompt so i can format the drive? i tried using the windows XP cd to get into the repair console but i get a stop screen for some error codes and i cant get to the point i can format.

HELP! if you have anything i will try it.. oh and i dont have a floppy drive HA! possible to burn a CD and change boot sequence?

I want to make a back-up image of my (vista) laptop on my external harddrive with "Partition Saving".

I can boot with the image into ms-dos but can't get to my external harddrive.(were the back-up software is)

Its named G: and it's a FAT 32 format...so i don't understand..

any suggestions ??

did ms-dos have a net command, or was that just a "command prompt" thing?
if dos can use net.exe, how easy would it be to add the net.exe file to the boot disk?

i am looking for chkdsk.exe but i can't find it anywhere
my computer doesn't have a floppy drive so i can't run a boot diskette.
where can i find/download scandisk or chkdisk for dos?
the one i found in windows doesn't work

Thx for the great site! I was wondering though, can MS-DOS be put onto a flash drive and made to work. I am having trouble with it, even after using HP's flash drive utility thing to copy the image of the floppy to the flash drive so its an exact image.

Hahaha they totally left out the windows ver. 1.0-3.14!!! HAHAHAHA

Errrr these don't work at all and the reason is very simple. These MS-DOS boot disks claim to have the files IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS and COMMAND.COM. In fact even in the lsit of files it says they are there. Even if you turn on the "Show All Files Option" they are STILL not there no wonder they won't boot. These files are simply not contained in the self extracting image so as I have spent the past two days looking for files which are supposed to be there, quoted as being there and are not there I guess I am wasting my time and will have to look out my original set of DOS disks.
