Re: Windows XP Home Boot Disk Download
Hi all. I am at witts end with my HP Pavilion and would appreciate any help/advice/recommendations anyone has. After trying to repair the XP OS multiple times from the manufacturer's recovery CD to no avail, I finally decided to completely reformat and reinstall windows from the CD. After doing so, I ran chkdsk in command mode and it's showing no errors. However, windows still will not boot because the "biosinfo.inf file is missing or corrupt". I did a little research and supposedly this file is not included on the manufacturer's recovery CD and is only located on the Windows XP install CD, which I do not have because the OS was already installed when I bought the computer. Does anyone know where can I get this one single file and how I can transfer it onto my HD in DOS mode?

Re: Windows XP Home Boot Disk Download
Ok,
I booted all six disc's and it then says
"Windows XP Professional Setup
Welcome to Setup. This portion prepares Microsoft (R) Windows XP Professional to run on your computer
-To set up windows XP now press Enter (When I do It asks for the xp cdrom) Which I don't have)
- To repair xp installation using recovery console press R
- To quit setup without installing windows xp press F3
I don't have a Microsoft Xp Professional Cd-rom so what do I do now?
Some of you idiots should just pay geeksquad...
After reading some of the comments from some folks here, I wonder how on earth they even managed to surf the web, and/or search to arrive at this page.
Next, I wonder how/why the site's author would allow for public comment/question via this blog.
I am utterly astonished at the level of cluelessness displayed by some folks here. "I don't have an windows xp cd how do I continue the installation?"
Are you freaking kidding me?!?
Re: Some of you idiots should just pay geeksquad...
Not everyone spends all day at the computer.
Re: Some of you idiots should just pay geeksquad...

Re: Some of you idiots should just pay geeksquad...
Spoken like a true geek... Obviously you don't have a life outside of the circle jerk of geeks you ASSociate with. Kudos to all of you out there who are trying to resolve your own issues. It's not rocket science, but does take some hand holding at times. Relative to todays economy, not everyone has the dough to pay a lifeless nerd to try to fix their problems and obviously, if dealing with you, the desire to suffer the humiliation that comes with it.
Sites like this are a great help to the future pioneers who still have the "can do" attitude. Thanks for having the resources to help those who are willing to try to help themselves.

Re: Windows XP Home Boot Disk Download
I will try to install with the help of the 6 floppy disks. The problem is that my cd rom is not atapi incompatible. The cd rom works fine when I get into Windows but I can't reboot from it.
Hopefully this will work with the floppies.
Re: Windows XP Home Boot Disk Download
Will this delete my files, because I have a lot of important stuff on it, and I don't want to have to go and start all over again. Has anyone's computer not worked when they used this?

Where I can get the Windows XP Home CD image?
Help please!
Hi,
When I start my laptop it shows a blue screen with "unmountable boot volume error" message. In order to boot the laptop, I am looking for a WIndows XP recovery console CD ( I don't have one). And, I have about zero knowledge about these things and I was wondering if I could just burn the above files to a CD and then try booting from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.
